PEI filament for MEX 3D printers, offering excellent heat resistance and flame retardancy
This filament is made from PEI (polyetherimide) resin, which offers excellent heat resistance, dimensional stability, and strength at high temperatures. It is designed for MEX (Material Extrusion) 3D printers.
PEI resin (ULTEM™ resin) is a super engineering plastic with exceptional properties.
HP Filament® (PEI ULTEM Type) is a filament designed for MEX-type 3D printers, made from PEI (ULTEM™) resin that offers excellent heat resistance, dimensional stability, and high-temperature strength.
PEI (ULTEM™) demonstrates outstanding heat resistance, dimensional stability, mechanical strength, flame retardancy (UL94 V-0), and low smoke generation. In particular, it excels in thermal stability — with a heat deflection temperature above 200°C and a UL-rated long-term use temperature exceeding 170°C — allowing for continuous use in high-temperature environments.
In terms of mechanical performance, it maintains high strength even under elevated temperatures, ranking among the strongest thermoplastic resins. Additionally, in 3D printing applications, PEI exhibits less warpage compared to PEEK.
Our lineup includes two widely used ULTEM™ grades, “1010-1000” and “9085-1100,” available in two spool weights: 100g and 500g.
Furthermore, we use special heat-resistant spools, enabling the filament to be dried at high temperatures while remaining wound.
For MEX-type 3D printing with PEI (ULTEM™), we highly recommend using our HP Filament®.
